A planned IndyCar series race at Sonoma Raceway was still scheduled to be held Sunday afternoon despite a 6.0 earthquake that jolted the Bay Area overnight, the track said.
"The raceway and its facilities experienced no damage," the raceway said in a statement. The quake was centered about nine miles south of nearby Napa, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The race, the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, is the next-to-last race of the season for the Verizon IndyCar Series.
"All major systems, including the 12-turn road course, have been inspected by officials and all emergency responders will be on site at the facility as planned," Sonoma Raceway said.
The 85-lap race was scheduled to start at 1:40 p.m.
Australian driver Will Power, seeking his first IndyCar championship, starts on the pole position with a 39-point lead in the title standings over his Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves.
The final race of the season is Saturday night at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.
