Michael Cooper, the former "Showtime" Lakers forward and coach of the L.A. Sparks, has purchased a home in the View Park area of Los Angeles for $1.1 million.
The Spanish-style contemporary, built in 1951 and since updated, features an open-space kitchen, a formal dining room, a sunken living room with a wet bar, four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 4,300 square feet.
Among interior details is a double-high entry, arched doorways and beamed ceilings. In the master suite, a two-sided fireplace divides the living space, separating a sitting room from the bedroom, bathroom and a private balcony.
Outdoors, landscaped grounds center on a kidney-shaped pool set beneath tall palms. A tile-lined patio completes the setting.
The property originally came to market in late September for the sale price, records show. Gail Smith of GLS Real Estate Group was the listing agent. Kristina McCoy of Dolce & Associates represented Cooper in the sale.
Cooper, a skilled defender during his NBA days, won five titles with the Lakers in the 1980s. The 58-year-old has added three more championships as a coach, two with the L.A. Sparks (2001-02) and another with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (2004) of the NBA D-League. He is currently the head coach of the Atlanta Dream.
