Police say a 28-year-old Los Angeles man, who is suspected of driving under the influence, struck and injured more than dozen a people who were looking at an Alhambra neighborhood holiday light display on Sunday night.
Alhambra Police Sgt. Joseph Mallette said Monday that Ismael Soto was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence after ramming into the group and injuring 13 people.
Eleven people were taken to a hospital, and one of the injured remained in intensive care Monday, Mallette said. All of the victims are expected to survive, he said.
Police said the group gathered about 8:30 p.m. Sunday to watch an annual holiday display at a neighborhood home near the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Poplar Boulevard.
Soto was driving a truck when he crossed over a solid yellow line into southbound lanes and collided into two parked vehicles, which were occupied, Mallette said.
The vehicles then struck the group of pedestrians, who were standing on the sidewalk, he said.
