A 23-year-old man was shot to death Sunday night while he was moving his car off a Lennox neighborhood street, authorities said.

The man was moving his car at about 8:59 p.m. in the 4100 block of West 105th Street when another car drove up next to him, according to Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Two men from the car confronted the victim and wanted to know if he was a gang member, Moody said. When one of the men starting fighting with the victim, the other shot him. They got back in the car and drove east on 105th Street, he said.

Sheriff's Department officials said the victim was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released and no one has been arrested in the case. No other details were immediately available.

The man's death marks the third homicide in the last 12 months in Lennox, according to The Times' Homicide Report.

The last homicide in the area occurred Dec. 28 near West 111th Street and Inglewood Avenue. In that case, Aaron Barron, 21, was killed by a gunman while he was hanging out with a group of people in a parking lot, officials said.
