The lions that formerly lived at the MGM Grand now have a home in Henderson, near the M Resort. And now they have six, yes six, cubs to keep them company.
The 8.5-acre Lion Habitat Ranch just welcomed what may be a record-breaking six cubs. Mother Pebbels gave birth to the litter on Wednesday, April 1. The habitat notes that there is only one documented case in the world for a litter of this size.
More than 40 lions, birds and giraffes call the habitat, which is about 12 miles south of the Strip, home. Guests can feed Ozzie the giraffe, who just turned one, and even feed the lions safely through a fence.
Keith Evans, the owner of the nonprofit habitat, has handled these big cats for more than 40 years.
MGM Grand shuttered its lion habitat in 2012. Six of the big cats now at the habitat would roam the MGM version daily.
Tickets for adults start at $20, but keep in mind the habitat is only open Fridays through Mondays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and only accepts cash.
