Ronda Rousey is convinced her new book will do well, even without the benefit of appearing on the shelves of Wal-Mart stores.
And why wouldn't she think so? After all, she always seems to do quite well for herself, whether it's on the judo mat, where she won an Olympic medal back in 2008, or in the octagon, where she's the UFC women's bantamweight champion and arguably the biggest star in MMA.
Rousey said as much Wednesday on Instagram, responding to the news from earlier this week that Wal-Mart would only sell her book "My Fight/Your Fight" online.
"'Success is the best revenge' one of many lessons I learned from fighting that helped me fight through life's battles off the mat and outside the octagon," she wrote. "@walmart is welcome to watch the success of this publication from the sidelines if they choose."
She also included a link to preorder the book -- from Amazon, though, not Wal-Mart, which does have that option available on its website.
It's still a mystery why Wal-Mart stores won't have the book visiibly available for customers, who do have the option of picking up the publication on location if they order it online. The New York Post and ESPN have reported that the superstore chain has deemed Rousey "too violent."
Wal-Mart spokeswoman Danit Marquardt told The Times on Monday that "a variety of factors" went into the decision.
