What better time to engage children in discussions about free speech and the 1st Amendment? The Newseum in Washington is dedicated to the topic and all things news-centric.
It offers a good deal for families this summer too: Up to four children get in to the Newseum for free when you buy at least one adult ticket.
The deal: The Summer Fun Deal offers serious savings on tickets for children 7 to 18 years old, which usually cost $13.95 each.
The deal allows free admission of up to four children with the purchase of one general adult (19 to 64 years old) ticket that costs $22.95 or a senior (at least 65 years old) ticket that costs $18.95. Children 6 and younger always get in free.
Newseum tickets are valid for two consecutive days too.
When: The deal is available July 1-Sept. 7. Tickets are on sale now online or you can buy them at the museum.
Details: Upcoming exhibitions not to miss:
-- "President Lincoln Is Dead: The New York Herald Reports the Assassination" about the initial media reports on his death almost 150 years ago.
-- "Reporting Vietnam," which includes more than 100 photos and TV footage of the war and the social unrest that unfolded in the 1960s and '70s.
