Rafting fans, here's another place to put on your whitewater bucket list: Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina.

As the name suggests, the park in the Austral Andes on the Argentine section of Patagonia is known for its glaciers and snow-capped peaks. It was selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 for its ice-covered terrain and rugged mountains and lakes.

Tour operator Say Hueque has been granted an exclusive permit to start taking visitors on rafting trips in the park. The raft trip is described as being a mix of easy and difficult.

Two-hour tours are guided and start on Las Vueltas River for a two-mile paddle before hitting Class III to IV rapids for the next four miles. After the adrenaline rush, the route continues on to the quiet Fitz Roy River for the last few miles.

Along the way, visitors will see Mt. Fitz Roy, one of the most popular peaks in Patagonia. It's named for the captain of Charles Darwin's ship, the Beagle.

To take the rafting tour, visitors may start from the Argentine towns of El Chalten (allow four hours with transportation) or El Calafate (12 hours).

Prices start at $70 per person for the day trip; customized tours also are available.
